I am looking forward to a night I have never experienced before and may never experience again. I will be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, (LSO), singing in the LSO Community Choir at the Barbican Concert Hall in the City of London.
Here is a brief look at the programme for the evening
On Thursday 13th June at 7.30 P.M. there will be a splendid night of Popular Classical Music being performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, LSO Community Choir and LSO On Track Next Generation .
This musical extravaganza includes Verdi's "Anvil Chorus " from Il Trovatore, the "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from Nabucco and Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (Choral) Finale. All are being performed by the LSO Community Choir in the original language.
The LSO will also be performing an overture of Verdi's "The Force of Destiny", Beethoven's "Symphony No 3 (Eroica): Scherzo and Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite (1919version).
The LSO On Track Next Generation will be preforming their version of Beethoven in "Napoleon Unbuttoned".
The LSO On Track Next Generation are young musicians from London's East End who would probably never have a chance to develop their musical talent and perform in concerts without the aid of the LSO community projects.
The LSO Community Choir is based at St Luke's Music Education Centre , Old St. London EC1 where anyone can join and sing no matter what their ability, there are no pre entry auditions. The St Luke's Church was built in the 18th centaury and is a Grade One listed Hawksmoor church building. It was restored to become the home LSO community and education programme called the LSO Discovery.

Of course I will be nervous and we have only another two rehearsals before the night. who wouldn't be performing with a world renowned orchestra and conductor, Alexander Bloch. http://lso/co.uk/press-release-donatella-flick-lso-conducting-competition-2012
Oh, nearly forgot we do not rehearse with the LSO until the evening of the concert the choir has an hour with the orchestra about 2hours before the concert begins, (from 5.15 p.m. 'till 6.30 p.m.).
I will blog about the night after I have recovered.
