To all Olympians, from McTaggart

I wish you well in your endeavour to achieve your goal and dream.
Years of dedication, sacrifice from day to day living, hard work, injury and frustration. This is now your day.
Your dream may come true, you may emulate the Olympian who inspired you or end in hurt, pain and disbelief.
I hope you achieve a personal best, what more can one ask from you.
For the chosen few there will be a Gold medal, the honour of being an Olympic champion for ever. Once an Olympic champion, always an Olympic champion. A record may be broken and taken from you but you are an Olympic champion for ever.
To be an Olympian is a great honour: you are among the best of the best.
As a sportsman myself I can appreciate the dedicated hours, effort and self-sacrifice that a top sportsperson has to put in not just to get to the top in their chosen sport but to stay there, keep their enthusiasm, and maintain that standard under the pressure of the spotlight and the expectations of others.
